VividQ’s Latest Holographic Display for AR Headsets

Cambridge (UK) – based VividQ has announced the launch of its latest technology, unveiled for the first time at the recent SID Display Week Conference in San Jose, California. VividQ’s Alpha Optical Engine Demonstrator displays high- resolution 3D visuals (60 PPD) with excellent contrast and realistic focal depth using Computer-Generated Holography (CGH).

According to the company, CGH provides the best solution for high- performance AR (augmented reality) displays, allowing users to naturally focus on content across multiple depth planes.

These innovations address many shortcomings of today’s AR devices, allowing easier interaction with AR content within arm’s reach, and prioritising user comfort by solving the notorious vergence-accommodation conflict (VAC). Holographic displays solve these issues that limit the adoption of AR wearables today and unlocks applications in gaming, entertainment and the metaverse.
